Products with a Smaller Carbon Footprint

We are always on the look out for great new products. Of course we always evaluate any new product on the basis of product quality, esthetic quality and value.

Recently we have added to our company product evaluation process green qualities like where and how things are made.

You may not know for example that a particular tile product is made with unfair or unsafe labor practices. A stone or slate product might come from a different continent. Shipping products long distances adds to the carbon footprint of your renovation project. These are all issues we weigh in designing your project. We have our suppliers tell us about these things.

We get a lot of requests for slate tile floors. We love slate tile and you can see projects where we have used it on our website. We like to install slate or tile flooring in any high traffic or wet traffic area. It’s especially nice with radiant floor under it.

Many slates are made in unsafe quarries in South America or China. We no longer rep those products. But we want to get you the slate you want sustainably. So we spoke to our suppliers. Of course we got results!

We have sourced these attractive East Coast slates and this porcelain tile line that look like slate.

These 2 materials will last several generations. They are locally made with fair safe labor practices. You can see the colors and textures are great.
