Sunny Shiny Mid-Century Modern Kitchen

Kitchen View

When our client inherited her parent’s wonderful but very brown and beige Mid Century Split level, she and her designer Hannah Dee (Hanna Dee Interiors Link) called us in to help with the necessary changes.

This client wanted bright joyful colors in her new kitchen, with lots places to display her MCM collections of colorful shiny kitchen objects, furniture, and tools. We kept the cabinets and counters simple white bright and clean and added a huge pop of color with the yellow backsplash and some contrast with the black hardware accents, black and white ceramic floor, and crisp stainless steel appliances.

The old brown kitchen was once cut off from the dining room but we opened up this wall and added an eat in counter here.

The ceiling was sagging because of the overloaded attic space above, so we jacked it and beefed it up with hidden structure.

Some fresh paint, upgraded lighting, and opening the kitchen to the breakfast area awash with light from the huge window overlooking the suburban back yard, this is now a cheerful spot to start the day.
